Introduction

Hi! My name is Henry. I started another blog recently and had a few interesting posts. The project fizzled quickly because I have an inexplicable tendency to give up on things as soon as I meet with a minor setback. The setback in this case took the form of a few days without a post. I don't remember if this happened because of a particularly busy week, a lack of inspiration, computer issues, or what.

Anyway, I'm trying again here and I like to think that this time, I will suddenly and magically become a more rational person. Maybe I'll convince myself that going three days without a post isn't a good reason not to post on day four or day five and that going five days without a post isn''t a good reason not to post on day eight and eight days without a post isn't a good reason to give up on posting forever. Or maybe I'll just be vigilant about posting each day so that I can't fall into a self imposed spiral of procrastination filled anxiety and be a quitter.

It just occurred to me that I haven't mentioned baseball yet. This blog will be primarily about baseball. I like baseball. Baseball makes more sense to me than anything in the world. In real life, most things are okay sometimes but not others. Most situations are pretty nebulous. In baseball, you never make the first out at third base. That will never be okay. If you're on third with fewer than two outs and a fly ball is hit deep into the outfield, you tag up no matter how sure you are that it will drop. Every single time. No matter what.

This blog won't be all about baseball. I care deeply about several other things . I have a mild and vague interest in more things still. I'll let you know when they come up. Maybe I'll just write random things on here. If I think they'll be entertaining or informative. I won't post anything on here that doesn't fulfill one of two criteria:
1. Interesting to most people (although I have nothing to go on here but my best guesses)
2. About baseball

The things that fall under the second category might be over the head of the casual baseball fan. I apologize if this happens. I understand the game very well simply because I have thrown so much of my time into it. If it takes you a minute to recall the infield fly rule or you don't know who has the all time career record for games lost or you can't explain what WHIP means or tell me your theory about how we should consider the statistics of hitters who spent the majority of their careers in Coors Field, I still like you as a person. My baseball posts, however, may be of little interest to you. I may be completely off base here. Maybe when I start writing I will find that I explain things pretty well. This was the case on my last blog, but I wasn't entirely thrilled with my last blog. We'll see what happens here.
